For 3D print sellers and makers
Price the print.
Print Bench is a free US job-cost calculator for FDM prints — figurines, fixtures, and shop parts. Enter the job, and get material, power, fail waste, fees, and a suggested list before you hit print. You own the listing price. This is not a quote, warranty, or inventory tool.
Your print
Filament
Weight the slicer reports, or what you actually used.
Typical US PLA 1 kg spool.
Net filament on the spool, not the box.
Printer time & power
Slicer time, or the clock on the machine.
Average draw while printing, not the PSU rating.
Electricity
US residential default (EIA-style ~16¢/kWh). Edit to match your utility bill.
Fail buffer
Applied to material + electricity only — the filament and power you would burn on a failed reprint. Packaging is not re-bought when a print fails on the bed.
Packaging
Box, mailer, tape, card. Not shipping you charge the buyer.
Pricing & profit
100% margin is a 2.00× markup: net twice your make cost, same language as Pour Bench.
Markup
2.00×
make cost × 2.00
Suggested list
—
You set the listing. This is not a quote.
Etsy-like US take (transaction + payments), seller-editable. List is grossed up so you still net the target after this cut. Offsite ads, if enrolled, are extra and not modeled here.
How the math works
Deterministic. No hidden multipliers. Zeros and negatives are not invented — those lines show n/a.
- Material = (filament grams ÷ spool grams) × spool price. If spool grams is 0 or less, material is n/a.
- Electricity = (printer watts ÷ 1000) × print hours × $ per kWh.
- Fail buffer = (material + electricity) × (fail % ÷ 100). Expected reprint waste on filament and power only.
- Make cost = material + electricity + fail buffer + packaging.
- Target net = make cost × (1 + margin ÷ 100). A 100% margin is a 2.00× markup.
- List = target net ÷ (1 − fee % ÷ 100) when the fee is under 100%. That gross-up leaves the target after the platform take. If the fee is 100% or more, list is n/a.
- Fees = list × (fee % ÷ 100).
- Total cost = make cost + fees. Suggested list price = list. You can ignore it.
